Xdisp — Ground Movement Analysis Software

Xdisp saves time and reduce errors in predicting ground movement and structural or utility damage. Settlements are calculated for tunnels and excavations. Analyse models with multiple mines, tunnels, and more, and then view your results through a number of outputs, including contours and vectors.
XDisp XDisp Pro

Embedded wall excavations are modeled in plan as polygons, with a level at each corner or circular vertical shafts. Each is assigned horizontal and vertical ground movement curves.

Mines are taken as excavations of rectangular cross-sections in rock. Predict subsidence and horizontal displacement with analysis based on the stochastic approach.

Tunnels can be modelled as cylindrical excavations in soil in a quicker and simpler method compared to 3D FE.

Building Damage Assessment (specific & generic)

Specific building damage assessment is calculated using the Burland (1997) assessment method. Generic assessments avoid detailed assessments of buildings which are later found to be within the limits set.

Utility Damage Assessment (specific & generic)

Specific utility damage assessment is calculated by assessing the extent of rotation of joints, pullout of joints and axial and flexural strains. Generic utilities are assessed by applying specific utility damage to sections along a route.

Rail Damage Assessment

Assess the damage impact on the rail within the model and analyse it in various ways.

Staged Construction

Combine a limitless amount of model files into one allowing you to create an animation and analyse any step of the construction process quickly. Proven to save countless hours of an engineers time.

COM API for Automation

COM allows users to create data objects that allow external programs to pass information and instructions to and from other software programs.

Bulk Chart Export

Export analysis results and charts from many model files at a single time. Visualise your assessment results quickly and clearly for stakeholders.

Automatic predictions for ground movement and settlements and assessments of building and utility damage

XDisp 20.0 Released – Innovation within Infrastructure

With the potential to save thousands of hours of analysis time, XDisp 20.0 has been released with many new features and enhancements. The release now enables multi-processing analysis speeds, enhanced user interface, rail damage assessments, COM capabilities, and much more.

The headline new capability is the staged construction option, which is only available in the XDisp Pro version. Used already on some of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects with critical acclaim.

Most urban tunnelling and excavation projects require estimates of ground movement and structural damage assessments. XDisp automates the process and displays the results in clear 3D graphics, eliminating errors and saves you significant time.

XDisp calculates the ground movements induced by tunnelling, embedded wall excavations, shafts and mining works in terms of three dimensional displacements and horizontal strains. Using damage criteria, it enables building, rail and utility damage assessments to be carried out from the calculated displacements.

How XDisp Works

Inputs: Tabular inputs allow you to import data, geometries and damage criteria. Additionally, DXF imports can be used to input geometry for tunnels and excavations with accuracy.

Analysis: XDisp predicts ground movements as a result of all kinds of excavations, including tunnels, basements, mines and embedded walls. It then uses these soil movements to assess building, rail, and utility damage, eliminating the need for separate analysis programs or multiple spreadsheets. You can use pre-programmed ground movement curves from Ciria C760 or input your own criteria. Building damage criteria are available from Burland (1995). XDisp 20.0 embraces the multicore processing capabilities of your hardware, ensuring the fastest possible analysis processing and results.

Outputs: Interactive 3D graphics make it easy to check and interpret the results, as well as providing clear information for designers, contractors and clients. The results of building and utility damage results can be exported with ease with Bulk Chart Export tools.

Key Features & Benefits

  1. Simulate many construction elements and stages in three dimensions in one model, creating significant time savings
  2. Simpler and faster than 3D FE
  3. Advanced features increase the accuracy of the calculations in critical areas
  4. Building, rail, and utility damage assessments
  5. COM compatible with other software tools
  6. Combine with PDisp to enable you to apply building and utility damage assessment to vertical and horizontal loading

Standalone Licences are locked to an individual machine but transferrable by the user to another machine. Ideal for single users.

Network Floating Licences can be activated on any number of machines, however you can only concurrently use the number of licences that you have purchased. Ideal for users requiring more flexibility or when working as part of a team.

Buying a licence will allow you the right to use that version of the software indefinitely. It includes 12 months of maintenance (technical support and access to software updates).

Renting the software enables you to use the software with full maintenance for the defined duration.

Keeping your software licences maintained gives you full access to technical support (telephone, email and web based) and ensures that your software is kept up-to-date with free downloadable updates. Maintenance is only available to existing licences and lasts 12 months. It is highly recommended that you keep your software licences maintained. Maintenance duration will be calculated from the date of expiry of the previous maintenance/initial warranty. If you are purchasing maintenance for licences that have been unmaintained for longer than 12 months please contact us in order to renew.
