Engineering a Resilient Future
The third consecutive Oasys sponsored Young Engineers Conference took place at Coventry University, the conference was created to help develop young engineers providing them with a platform for exploring critical issues.
The keynote speaker for the day was Caroline Field, who is Resilience Practice Leader at the firm MMI Engineering. She shared her expertise on the speciality knowledge required to design and analyse structures to be resilient in extreme events. Caroline was joined by Oliver Broadbent, Think Up, who led a new interactive workshop at the conference, exploring the hidden components of a brief and introducing the concept of the designer’s paradox, fundamental to understanding design as an iterative process.
