As part of their expansion into crowd experience and safety with CrowdEx, we’re thrilled to share that we’ve welcomed DC Partnership as a valued client and as Oasys MassMotion specialists.

DC Partnership is an Australian consultancy known for combining technical rigour with practical thinking to simplify complex regulatory and performance challenges. The firm provides specialist services in Building Code Consultancy, Inclusive Design and Accessibility and Fire Safety Engineering, and has established CrowdEx as a dedicated crowd experience and safety service.
CrowdEx uses MassMotion modelling to improve safety, operational efficiency and user experience in environments where people move through and gather. Drawing on proven methodologies from established sectors such as transport, stadia and urban precincts, CrowdEx uses similar approaches to provide insights to events, festivals and greenfield sites, supporting informed decision‑making across both permanent infrastructure and temporary overlays.
The software supports detailed analysis across a wide range of environments, including:
- Transport hubs and interchanges where assessing passenger flows is essential to understanding how design choices affect movement and performance.
- Stadia and venues to inform ingress, circulation, egress and evacuation planning and performance.
- Festivals and events involving varied and multi‑stage crowd movement across temporary venues or green field sites.
- Mixed use and high-rise developments where lobby, lift and vertical transport performance is optimised.
- Precincts, campuses and civic spaces with fluctuating pedestrian demand and diverse user groups.

Developing high quality, and engaging visualisations allows CrowdEx to communicate complex movement patterns clearly, making insights accessible to audiences with varying levels of experience in crowd movement and behaviour. These outputs directly support CrowdEx strategies such as journey mapping, capacity assessment and scenario testing, with people‑movement considerations informing decisions from initial design through to operational implementation.
Why MassMotion?
DC Partnership selected MassMotion as the primary dynamic crowd simulation software for its CrowdEx services. MassMotion’s agent-based modelling closely reflects real people movement behaviour, allowing accurate assessment of how occupants interact with both permanent infrastructure and temporary event environments.
High quality visualisation is a cornerstone of the CrowdEx approach. Working in a fully 3D environment allows the team to present complex crowd and people movement patterns in a way that is immediately understandable to audiences with varying levels of experience in crowd modelling. This visual clarity supports effective engagement with designers, operators and stakeholders, with modelling outputs informing decision‑making.

he flexibility of MassMotion, combined with its strong visual communication capabilities, aligns with CrowdEx’s commitment to delivering modelling that is clear, intuitive and adaptable across a wide range of project types.
The engineers behind the scenes
With this partnership, we also welcome more MassMotion champions to our community. Tony Nichol is a crowd experience and safety specialist at DC Partnership, where he leads the CrowdEx services. With more than 15 years’ experience as a crowd and transport planner, Tony has delivered studies for major events, stadia, venues and public spaces across Australia, the UK and Europe. He has extensive expertise in using MassMotion to test performance under varying conditions, applying evidence‑based simulation to support safer, more efficient spaces and environments.
Working alongside Tony is Olivia Yee, Senior Consultant and highly experienced crowd modeller at DC Partnership. With seven years’ experience in pedestrian planning and crowd modelling, Olivia delivers MassMotion‑based evacuation and capacity studies for major stadia, transport interchanges and large‑scale events across Australia. Recognised as a MassMotion super user, she combines strong technical capability with clear visual communication to support design development, operational planning and confident decision‑making.
Together, Tony and Olivia draw on experience in established sectors such as major transport interchanges, large venues and complex precincts, applying this expertise to less traditional contexts including events, festivals, complex urban environments and greenfield sites. Their focus is on helping clients understand, test and optimise how people move through and experience space, whether within permanent built assets or temporary, dynamic event environments.
We’re excited to strengthen our relationship with DC Partnership and support their commitment to delivering exceptional experiences, safety and accessibility across their projects. We look forward to seeing Tony, Olivia and the team harness the full potential of MassMotion’s extensive capabilities for a variety of exciting environments and scenarios.
