Interview with Nick Niknam
Nick is a Business Development & Channel Manager at Oasys.
I started my career as a Graduate Civil Engineer working for a leading industrial design company in the Middle East. I was responsible for designing factories, underground stations, and residential projects. This was a great role for me and provided me with an opportunity to advance my engineering knowledge as well as my commercial skills by working with different stakeholders in various projects.
After four years of working as an engineer, I joined Caterpillar as a Key Account Manager for the oil and gas sector and was sponsored to study MBA at Manchester Business School. This was a great opportunity to work and study at the same time and to travel to various countries such as the UK, Dubai and Hong Kong for workshops and projects.
Because of my interest in application of technology in civil engineering, I decided to join Wilde Analysis Ltd. as a Business Development Manager for the Civil Engineering sector in 2009. Wilde Analysis is a leading consulting and software reseller in the field of FEA, CFD, and Reliability. I helped top civil engineering consultants and universities exploit the benefits of engineering simulation and numerical modelling by providing simulation consulting, training and software tools including PLAXIS, Talren, ANSYS and FEM-Design.
I joined Oasys in 2012 as a Business Development and Channel Manager. I am responsible for managing our engineering clients as well as our global reseller channel. Diversification and penetration into new geographical markets is one of my key goals and I am pleased to say that since joining Oasys, I have managed to appoint new highly-qualified resellers in Australia, Singapore, South Korea, Russia, and Turkey. My role also involves dealing with multinational engineering companies helping them to save time and money and become more innovative by using our structural, geotechnical and crowd simulation products and services.
I also have a growing interest in Environmental Management and Sustainability and became an Associate Member of Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment in 2012 after passing the IEMA course at University of Bath.
Oasys solutions are being developed by engineers for engineers and this means that we have a good understanding of our clients requirements and expectations. This results in having truly world-class and innovative solutions in our portfolio, but the product which stands out for me is MassMotion. It is fascinating how implementation of 3D pedestrian modelling technology can help architects, transport planners and fire engineers to test different scenarios by designing around comfort and safety of people.
I am passionate about travelling the world and enjoy working and socialising with people from different cultures and backgrounds. I also enjoy boxing and am currently on training to become a certified AIKIDO instructor.
