On purchasing any Oasys software, you will be emailed a Key ID and a Password. These two pieces of information are all that you require to activate the licence.
To activate the key, enter the Key ID and Password using ManageKeys from the Start menu. If the software is still within the evaluation period, and depending on the application, you may also activate by selecting ManageKeys from the program's menu or using "Activate" from the About dialog. If the activation is successful, the Licensing Details will be updated to show the registered company name, allowed version number, and computer ID. If there are any problems with the activation an error message will be shown.
If you do not have an internet connection, offline activation will be offered. Follow the on-screen instructions and send Oasys the required information by phone or email.
These licences can be returned to the server from the ManageKeys utility by clicking the 'return key' or 'release key to pool' button. This then frees up the "key" to be used on another PC. However, this has to be done manually otherwise the licence remains locked on the machine.
For a shared licence the "key" is activated in the same way initially, but is automatically returned to the server when the program is closed meaning another PC can then use the "key". The user doesn't have to remember to manually return it. Once a user has activated a licence on their PC, the next time they open the program, it will automatically check for a licence. If there is a free licence, then this will just run without them having to enter any activation details (please note that currently, if a user of a shared licence enters the activation details again, they will use up another activation. This will be changed so that they can physically only activate once).
If all licences are being used, the message 'No activations of this type available' will be displayed, and the user will have to wait for someone else to exit the program. Obviously this is easier and less prone to keys getting locked on PC's and provides the flexibility of a shared licence.
The Oasys Network Licensing Server is provided for legacy reasons only. It has been superseded by the Shared Licence described above.
