Geo 18.1 Build 5 Patches: New Features
Geo 18.1 Build 5 Patches : New Features - Safe
-
Simple mesh specification added to Graphical Input view's features.
-
Better Undo facility - copes with undoing line addition / delete / split (but not simply editing) and
region creation / deletion
-
Button added to generate "standard restraints" along bottom of mesh and down
left and right vertical edges
-
Group selection and deletion of lines implemented
-
Splitting or deleting a line correctly deletes any subregions connected to the

Geo 18.1 Build 5 : New Features
Geo 18.1 Build 5 : New Features - Safe
-
Standard sets of units (SI, kN-m, kip-ft and kip-in) may be selected via the
Units and Preferences dialog.
-
So as to help users to ensure that they are running the latest software a new
version checking system has been implemented. This compares each executable
file installed locally with the set that Oasys identifies as being the
'current' version. (The comparison is carried out locally; no data is
transmitted to Oasys.) Executables for which updates are available are
highlighted. Updates may then be downloaded from the Program's Downloads page
on the Internet. This system enables rapid delivery of bug fixes and,
occasionally, minor enhancements.
-
Graphical input has been revised and now includes:
-
switching between node and element selection (without having to change the view
shown);
-
automatic switch between single and group selection;
-
setting restraints on mesh lines before generating;
-
graphical entry of seepage restraints; and
-
better graphical input of pressure loads.
-
In the graphical output:
-
multi-graph plots on the same axis have been reinstated; and
-
an envelope plotting facility has been added to the graph plot view.

Finite Elements: Outstanding Bugs
Outstanding Bugs - Safe
-
Safe may crash on analysis of consolidation run (possibly only on W2000 PCs).
[NCR 1]
-
Major difference in the piezo head contour plots between 17.8 and 18.0 to run a
problem involving well.
[NCR 3]
-
Manual wrong for undrained & suction limits.
[NCR 9]
-
Non-symmetrical results obtained for tunnel problem with symmetrically placed
springs.
[NCR 10]
-
Scaling problems for plotting the stresses, bending moments etc.. and re-run
the analyses may cause slightly differing results from old version
[NCR 11]
-
Change some of the permeability parameters and re-run the analysis may cause
unexpected crash.
[NCR 12]
-
Graphical input - auto generation doesn't always complete (last region omitted)
- workaround : select required lines and create manually
