Automotive Crashworthiness using LS-DYNA
Duration: 3½
Days
This course is suitable for LS-DYNA users with at least 6 months experience of using LS-DYNA or any other explicit finite element code. The course aims to provide an insight for trainees to perform accurate and reliable crashworthiness simulations.
Workshops are run throughout the course which use the Oasys Suite of software programs.
Course contents are as follows:
Day -1
- Historical overview
- Reliability of CAE simulations – perspective of automotive crashworthiness
- Mesh quality requirements + workshop
- Different time integration schemes
- Timestep control in LS-DYNA
- Various finite elements available in LS-DYNA
Day – 2
- Shell elements + workshop
- Hourglassing and control
- Material models for metals
- Strain rate dependency + workshop
Day – 3
- Material models for foams + workshop
- Contact algorithms + workshop
- Treatment of rigid bodies
- Handling different types of connections
Day – 4 (half day)
- Working with accelerometers
