LS-DYNA Advanced Impact Analysis (non-automotive)
Duration: 2 Days
This course is intended to train users who wish to use Oasys LS-DYNA for non-automotive impact analysis (including transport packages, drop testing of components and assemblies, etc.). The topics include:
- Finite Element Modelling of Impact Analysis in LS-DYNA
- Guidance on mesh generation & choice of element formulation
- Material data input including orthotropic properties, strain rate sensitivity, failure
- Modelling rigid parts and rigid connections
- Defining accelerometers
- Connections - welds, bolts, etc. and how to represent failure
- Constraints, initial velocity and boundary conditions
- Contacts definitions
- LS-DYNA output definition
- Model checking
- Quasi-static aspects (pre-load, etc.)
- Running LS-DYNA jobs
- Runtime of an analysis
- Speed-up via multi-processor runs and mass-scaling
- Restarting analysis
- Post-processing analysis results
- Comparison to test
- Displacements, velocities, accelerations, deformed geometry, stress & strain, reaction forces, energy
- Command files and automatic post-processing
- Debugging models and trouble shooting
