Software Developer (Solihull, UK)

Role: Software Developer

Location: Solihull, UK

Job profile:

In response to growing demand, we have an exciting opportunity to grow our team of software developers.  The successful candidate will join the team at our Solihull office to develop the market leading Oasys Suite of pre- and post-processing software for the LS-DYNA finite element analysis code.

Our software team members take responsibility for the development of specific functions as well as maintaining the existing features and contributing to other related tasks such as quality assurance and day-to-day technical support.  There are also opportunities for client contact through regular meetings, training courses and other events both in the UK and abroad.

We are looking for candidates with an engineering background, at least 2 years’ experience of using LS-DYNA or other finite element analysis codes, and who can demonstrate interest and aptitude for software development.  Extensive experience of software development is not essential as training will be given.  Candidates with experience of developing finite element pre or post-processors should also apply.

CAE Engineer (Shanghai, China)

Role: CAE Engineer

Location: Shanghai, China

Job profile:

Our rapidly growing Advanced Technology + Research group in Shanghai is currently recruiting CAE engineers to work on forthcoming vehicle programmes, structural analysis projects and to provide support for Oasys and LS-DYNA software. Our engineers can expect to receive excellent training in CAE methods, and opportunities to travel to the UK and the USA. They will be responsible to the group manager in Shanghai and will be expected to communicate regularly with our UK head office.

The successful candidate will receive training from an experienced foreign engineer and will have the opportunity to play a key role in the development of our CAE service and automotive business in China. We are looking for young professionals with 2~3 years of experience in crash simulation using LS-DYNA.

Responsibilities:

  • Use LS–DYNA finite element analysis software to perform structural analysis of civil structures and vehicles
  • Provide recommendations to improve the structural design of models
  • Prepare technical reports and deliver presentations to clients in Chinese and English
  • Work at customer sites when required
  • Visit customer sites to set up software and give software demonstrations
  • Support LS-DYNA and Oasys software customers in China
  • Translate technical documents between Chinese and English
  • Ensure all design and modelling information is treated in a confidential manner
  • Liaise with other Arup teams in the UK, Japan and US to clarify or resolve customer problems

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Mechanical Engineering degree or related discipline (minimum score 80%).
  • Must be proficient in the use of Ansa or Hypermesh and post-processing software.
  • Required skills: 2-3 years of use of LS-DYNA in the industry.
  • Understanding of vehicle engineering, materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of seismic design of structures or knowledge of multibody dynamics and fatigue analysis a definite advantage.
  • Microsoft Office literate using Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Word.
  • Fortran/C Programming skills and experience using Unix/Linux is an advantage

Person specification:

  • Chinese National required.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and use initiative to solve problems.
  • Ability to work in a team, follow instructions; pick up new software quickly and solve problem independently.
  • Willingness to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Language Skills:

  • Fluent in English and Chinese, can read and write effectively in English
  • Excellent oral communication skills
