Alp 19.2: New Features

  • A partial factors dialog has been added allowing the user to apply standard and user specified partial factor sets to models.
  • Alp has been amended to allow the user to input data by level, with the program generating a nodes based on the soil, load and restraint levels.
  • A section wizard has been added to allow the user to specify pile dimensions and materials, and the wizard then calculates the relevant effective width and stiffness value.
  • COM interface is now supported in Alp. The help file contains the list of COM interface functions available.

Alp 19.1: New Features

Geo 18.1 Build 5: New Features

  • Data files may now be emailed directly from the program's interface via the 'File' menu.
  • The text output of the results view has been improved. It may now be exported to a range of file formats via the 'File' menu.
  • Standard sets of units (SI, kN-m, kip-ft and kip-in) may be selected via the Units and Preferences dialog.
  • So as to help users to ensure that they are running the latest software a new version checking system has been implemented. This compares each executable file installed locally with the set that Oasys identifies as being the 'current' version. (The comparison is carried out locally; no data is transmitted to Oasys.) Executables for which updates are available are highlighted. Updates may then be downloaded from the Program's Downloads page on the Internet. This system enables rapid delivery of bug fixes and, occasionally, minor enhancements.
  • The P-Y curve model for sand, that is specified in the American Petroleum Institute Recommended Practice 2A, 21st Edition (2000), has been implemented as a beta feature.

Outstanding Bugs

  • Alp crashes if the user attempts to modify a new partial factor set immediately after adding it. This crash can be avoided by clicking on 'Apply' after the new partial factor set has been created, and then re-entering the dialog to modify.
